- Games can be hosted and joined via the in-game browser.
- There is a dev build which is incompatible with the public build. Games listed in the server browser are prefixed with either ‘dev’ or ‘public’
Important note for the host
- In games, especially with larger numbers of players and spectators, it’s important that the host has stable FPS. It can’t drop to less than 60 fps (the netcode tickrate). The host should not use gsync for variable framerates, but aim to stick to their stated fps value in settings.
Starting offline (non-steam) games
If you are not logged into steam when you start a game, it will be advertised on your local network.
Players can join your game via the Join Game menu, or alternatively, by loading any map, and typing into chat: “`open <your IP>” and pressing enter.
You can play non-steam games over the internet if you have port forwarding setup correctly. I believe this port is 7777 (game) and 27015 (server query), UDP.
